Sean Connery plays a bloodthirsty savage who smuggles himself into the compound of bored immortals who prey on the ignorance and superstition of the post-apocalyptic survivors in the nuclear war blasted wastelands outside. But once inside the question is will he be seduced by the new world he discovers or will he be the one who brings about change?
Lawyer Bruce Dunbar (Phil Daniels) has learnt through experience that he needs to break the rules in order to get the results he wants. His practice is a business and he knows how to work the system. Representing juveniles and petty criminals in the magistrates' court, Dunbar does what he can to get the best outcome, but only if it benefits him financially. When his mentor and partner dies, he hires the well-educated and articulate Theodore Gulliver (Ray Emmett-Brown) to share the load. Gulliver, who believes passionately in the justice system, is shocked by Dunbar's irreverent attitude. His own commitment to the job is steadfast and his naivety leads him to think he can really make a difference - an attitude which grates on the cynical Dunbar. Includes the first series, with the episodes: Outlaws (1), Outlaws (2), Tintype, Primer, Orleans, Hymn, Madrid, Potboiler, Pursued, Independents, Hardcase, Jackpot and Birthday.
