Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical comes to the screen in this film adaptation. The Phantom is a disfigured musical genius, who lives in the sewers beneath the Paris Opera House. His shadowy presence terrifies those who live and work there. He develops a dangerous passion for an innocent chorus girl, called Christine, who he believes possesses a great talent. He privately tutors her and demands that she be given lead roles. When Christine becomes romantically involved with another man, fierce jealousy is aroused in the Phantom and his obsession drives him to extreme measures.
The four participants in a series of events involving ambush, rape and murder each tell their own version of what happened. But which ones are telling the truth?
