Baaz

Set in 16th Century India, Prince Ravi (Guru Dutt) lives with his mother the Queen, in Malabar. The royal family has been reduced to mere figureheads and the Portuguese traders essentially rule the state. Nisha (Geeta Bali) is the daughter of a revolutionary who, along with her father, is arrested by the Portuguese and sold as slaves on a ship. After witnessing the killing of her father, Nisha becomes a revolutionary herself, fights the Portuguese and takes over the ship.

Road Home, The

Wonderful romantic story based upon the novel Remembrance by Shi Bao. City businessman Luo Yusheng returns home to his childhood village in the north of China for the funeral of his father, the village teacher. His elderly mother insists that all the traditional burial customs must be observed even though times have changed. Luo realises that he will never persuade her to change her mind and begins to reminisce about the stories of his parents courtship. Their remarkable story is told in flashback.
